Walmart WFS Management

Enrollment, inbound shipments, fees, and replenishment for brands that want Walmart to pick, pack, and ship.

Walmart WFS management covers enrollment, the inbound shipment, the fee choice, and the replenishment after the first case arrives. SellTru does that for brands doing $1M to $20M that already sell on Walmart, or that are ready to. We are an Amazon Ads Partner Network member, with $150M+ in marketplace sales managed across 200+ brands. The how-to is the WFS guide. This page is the ongoing work. Listings and Connect ads around it sit on the Walmart marketplace agency page.

WFS is a fulfillment program, not a traffic program. A badge on an item Walmart shoppers do not want is still storage. We decide which SKUs belong in the building before we schedule the pickup.

What WFS is and who qualifies

Walmart Fulfillment Services is Walmart's version of FBA. You send inventory in. Walmart stores it, picks, packs, and ships. The listing can show a Fulfilled by Walmart badge, and qualifying items can show a 2-day shipping tag. Walmart also handles customer service and returns on WFS orders. The guide is clear that there is no setup fee and no monthly fee to enroll. You pay fulfillment and storage.

You do not need WFS to sell on Walmart. Seller-fulfilled orders and a 3PL are allowed. The guide still recommends WFS for most serious sellers because of the badge, the delivery speed, and the conversion difference Walmart has reported. That report, quoted on the guide, is a conversion-rate increase of over 30% on WFS items versus seller-fulfilled ones. It is Walmart's figure, not a SellTru promise, and it is not a reason to inbound a product that should not be on the channel.

Who qualifies is an application, not a toggle. Seller Center asks for last year's revenue, SKU count and the share that are new, average selling price, and whether you are the brand owner, an authorized seller, or a reseller. Walmart recommends starting with at least 50 items and replenishing on a steady cadence. A smaller catalog can still be a conversation. We will say if the application is early.

WFS fees explained

The WFS guide is the comparison we use, and it tells you to confirm the live rate card before you model margin. For most products at or above about one pound, WFS fulfillment runs about 15% less than FBA. Under 4 ounces, the guide says Amazon still has a small edge, around $3.06 versus $3.45 a unit. Storage on WFS is a flat $0.75 per cubic foot year-round. The guide puts standard FBA storage near $0.78, and peak FBA storage, October to December, near $2.40, with no matching peak surcharge on WFS.

WFS has no inbound placement fee. The guide also notes multi-channel fulfillment for Shopify, eBay, and Etsy orders since late 2024. There is no WFS calculator on this site. The rate card moves, including incentives Walmart runs for newer sellers, so Seller Center is the number you should model. The table is the guide's summary, not a bid.

A fee advantage that strands the item is not a win. If the Walmart listing cannot earn the order, cheaper fulfillment is a cheaper way to store product nobody buys. Contribution margin after the real fee is the number that matters, not the badge by itself.

Want the fee picture on the SKUs you would actually ship?

Enrollment and inbound setup

Apply in Seller Center before you build the shipment. Approval is the first deliverable. Then convert the item to WFS, wait until that conversion shows as processed, and only then ship. The guide is blunt that converting a listing is not the same as having stock in the building. Until units are received, the SKU is not WFS inventory, and an ad against it is a click you cannot fulfill.

Labeling and carton prep stay with your warehouse or a prep partner you choose. We do not run a prep center. We set the shipment up, specify what receiving requires, and reconcile what Walmart checks in. The same line we use on Amazon FBA management: plan and reconcile. We do not polybag the goods.

We do not move units out of FBA to fill WFS. Those units are in Amazon's buildings. WFS gets its own inbound. The split is planned so Q4 on Amazon is not emptied to stock a second channel that has not earned the units yet.

FBA vs WFS

The model matches. The operations do not. FBA shipments can split across buildings and can carry inbound placement fees. The guide describes WFS as one destination, without that placement fee. Storage seasonality is the other split: FBA peak pricing, WFS flat pricing. Returns and customer service on WFS orders sit with Walmart, the way FBA orders sit with Amazon.

None of that makes the catalogs copies of each other. A Walmart title is not an Amazon title pasted across. The Walmart marketplace agency page is the listing and ads sequence. This page stops at fulfillment: which SKUs belong in WFS, how they get there, and how they stay supplied without a second forgotten spreadsheet.

Two piles of inventory, one owner. If Amazon and Walmart are both in scope, replenishment has to feed both. We would rather delay a WFS launch a week than advertise an item that cannot ship, or pull Amazon cover down to make the second channel look active.

WFS and Walmart search rank

The Walmart search ranking guide says WFS products get preferential treatment in search, and that two-day delivery is a trust signal the algorithm reflects. Seller-fulfilled items can still win the order. They have a harder time winning the visibility when a WFS offer shows a faster date. We do not treat the badge as a ranking switch you can flip with an empty warehouse. The badge follows received inventory.

If the price is out of range, the same guide says the listing will struggle no matter the fulfillment method. WFS does not repair a price Walmart is already suppressing. Fix the offer, then inbound. Ads come after the item can ship, which is the same order on the marketplace agency page.

If the Walmart items are still shipping from your warehouse, start with which SKUs belong in WFS.

FAQ

What are WFS fees?

Fulfillment, storage, and nothing to enroll. The WFS guide puts fulfillment about 15% below FBA for most products around one pound and up, storage at $0.75 per cubic foot year-round, and no inbound placement fee. FBA peak storage in that comparison is about $2.40 per cubic foot from October to December. There is no setup fee and no monthly fee to enroll. Confirm the current rate card in Seller Center before you model it. We do not publish a calculator.

Is WFS worth it?

For a brand that can replenish a second pool of inventory, and that has items Walmart shoppers will reorder, usually yes. The badge, the 2-day tag, and Walmart's reported conversion gap versus seller-fulfilled items are why the guide recommends it. It is not worth it for a SKU you cannot keep in stock, or for a price Walmart is already suppressing. We will say that on the audit.

Can I use FBA inventory?

No. Units in FBA stay in Amazon's warehouses. WFS needs its own shipment. Converting the Walmart listing does not move Amazon inventory, and it does not put stock in a Walmart building. The FBA management page is where the two pools get planned so one channel is not emptied to feed the other.

How does WFS affect the Buy Box?

The Fulfilled by Walmart badge and a faster delivery date are what shoppers and the offer compare. That promise matters for the Buy Box and for conversion. A seller-fulfilled item can still win. It loses more often when a WFS competitor shows a better delivery date. The badge does not help an item with no units received.

How do I enroll?

Apply in Seller Center. Walmart reviews revenue, SKU count and the share of new products, average selling price, and whether you are the brand owner, an authorized seller, or a reseller. The guide says Walmart recommends at least 50 items and steady replenishment, and that enrollment has no setup or monthly fee. After approval, convert the item, ship the inbound, and wait for received units before you scale ads.

The WFS guide stays the step-by-step, including the rate comparison you should confirm live. This page is the management after the first shipment.
